Incredibly Late

Hey guys, I realize this is way too late for grading but I still wanted to check in and say "Hi" and let people know that I'm not dead. Had some things come up and I missed the last few weeks of class, and I've only really just gotten back on my feet to take care of stuff.

Final Redo

I know this is a bit late, but had a few internet problems over the weekend. I just wanted to add this with the updates so everyone could see it anyways. Hope you are all enjoying the summer break :)

Final Project revised/finished

Well, it's still technically Sunday for me as I haven't slept yet...but here it is. I'm pretty happy with it. Much was done/redone. All suggestions were addressed that I'm aware of. Portrait in back gave me a lot of hell and is what took me so dang long, but oh well. Thanks for everything, everybody and have a great summer! Jonas :)

Attempted to improve this final drawing. I'm not sure I was successful. Might be something to continue to work on. I enjoyed the class very much, hope to see everyone around.

Wish I Was Here

Update 4/29/2009: Revised Final Image



Last Thursday, my friend Lis Bokt and I went to the small park off Park St. and Crosstown Pkwy. in Kalamazoo to shoot some pictures of yours truly. It was incredibly awkward, but she managed to get some really nice shots. Of these, I selected one picture that looked fairly natural and had some great value distribution to create a self portrait.

Here is the original picture:


I took a few liberties... like being at a beach instead of a small park in Kalamazoo. And getting rid of my moles/freckles (I'm lazy...)

If I had a bit more time, I'd work on the blending some more, but overall I'm really happy with how this turned out.

I just wanted to say to all of you that I really enjoyed the class (even if digital stuff isn't my cup o' tea). Even if I was crabby about it (which I was, 3/4 of the time XD) I did really value your feedback and suggestions on my work. I've never taken critiques all that well, so I hope you didn't take it too personally.
During this class I've come to realize just how much I've still got to improve and learn. I'm still pretty far down on the artistic totem pole. XD
All and all, its been pretty darn humbling.
Which is good. XD I think my ego needed a kick in the pants.

In any case, I hope you all have a good summer, and if we never cross paths again, I wish you the best on your careers.

I'm definitely happier with the sketchier look. I resisted it at first, but now I hate my original. Undecided on keeping the background or not. I'm much happier with the text (thank you Kaylan! - it's still not as good as yours was) :) I considered adding a third, buzzsaw arm, but I'm done for the night anyway.

Threadless Assignment (Revised)

Well, here's the revised version.
I dimmed down the stars, added yellow highlights around the smog-dragon's face, and added a shadow on the earth. I did try having some bits of flame wrapping around the edges of its mouth, but it just made it even more confusing. I think the highlights do help a lot.

Zombie Shirt Redux

Here's my latest attempt, hopefully resolving the issues Mike had with the original design by upping the ghastliness of the zombie and bulking out the cross-hairs so they don't interfere with the line work of the image.
